It’s one of the most memorable taglines a ball could present. If you’ve never heard of it, you won’t be able to go. If you’ve known about it for nearly 20 years, you’ve still never been. It’s the most-talked about, least-attended event in Pasadena.

It’s the Phantom Ball.

For 19 years, Side Street Projects has put on the infamous annual non-event. Rather than attend, the Ball invites you to choose an activity — any activity — you’ve been meaning to get to, and use the time you would have set aside for the Ball to do that instead. Buy a ticket for $150 to receive a signed, secret, limited-edition print by contemporary artist John Outterbridge, who was featured in the much-publicized exhibit Pacific Standard Time.
